Rourkela Steel Plant Expansion Boosts Socio-Economic Development
Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy inaugurated a new steel-making facility at Rourkela Steel Plant, highlighting its potential in regional socio-economic development. The expansion aims to double capacity, requiring a Rs 30,000 crore investment, with significant implications for sectors like defense, oil and gas, and automobiles.
Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy has officially inaugurated a state-of-the-art steel-making facility at the Rourkela Steel Plant, marking a significant step forward for regional socio-economic development.
The ceremony was attended by Jual Oram, Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, during their two-day visit to the city of Rourkela, Odisha. The event included the launch of the Caster-4 unit within Steel Melting Shop-2.
The expansion of SAIL's facility plans to double production capacity to around 9 million tonnes per annum. With an estimated investment of Rs 30,000 crore, this project is set to bolster supplies to crucial sectors including defense, oil and gas, and automobile industries.
