In a significant move aimed at bolstering the country's textile industry, the Indian government has lifted the quality control order on viscose staple fibre, effective immediately. This decision is set to facilitate easier access to raw materials considered crucial for the industry.

The Ministry of Textiles stated that rescinding the order will enhance global competitiveness and accelerate industry-driven growth, promoting objectives such as increased export capabilities and market expansion. Previously, concerns over supply constraints and costs were prevalent among stakeholders.

This policy change follows consultations with the Bureau of Indian Standards and industry representatives. It coincides with a broader government initiative to revoke quality controls on 14 chemicals and polymers, including those affecting textile production, as part of efforts to achieve Vision 2030's ambitious export and market expansion goals.
