Kolkata's Metro Blue Line Embraces Advanced Building Management System
Kolkata's Metro Railway is implementing a Building Management System (BMS) on the Blue Line to enable centralized control of station systems. This technology facilitates remote monitoring and automation, enhancing control over temperatures and systems like ventilation and elevators across multiple stations.

Kolkata's Metro Railway is set to revolutionize operations on the Blue Line by implementing a state-of-the-art Building Management System (BMS) in each of its stations. The main objective is to facilitate centralized control of various station systems, including air conditioning, tunnel ventilation, elevators, and pumps.
This initiative marks a significant stride toward remote monitoring and management of electrical assets and station temperatures, all to be controlled from the Metro Rail Bhavan's central location. Stations will be grouped into clusters, with a designated monitoring center overseeing each cluster's assets.
The BMS enables automated temperature control, reacting instantly to any rise in temperature, tunnel fires, or train congestion by activating ventilation systems. First established in the 1970s, Kolkata Metro continues to incorporate modern technology, maintaining its status as India's first and Asia's fifth Metro Railway network.
