The opposition in the Lok Sabha on Monday demanded that the government address public discontent over the ongoing disruptions of IndiGo flights causing chaos at airports nationwide.
Speaker Om Birla mentioned that Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu is expected to deliver a comprehensive statement on this issue either on Monday or Tuesday. Concerns were raised by Gaurav Gogoi, Congress' deputy leader, emphasizing the hardships faced by travelers, including dialysis patients and those with weddings and family emergencies, amidst flight delays and exorbitant prices.
The Congress party has accused the BJP government of fostering this 'unprecedented crisis' by promoting a duopoly in the aviation sector. The turmoil escalated as over 250 IndiGo flights from Delhi and Bengaluru were canceled on Monday, marking a week of continued disruption.
