Set Sail for Adventure: Inaugural YAI-Ocean Gold Konkan Regatta Launches

In an exciting development for maritime enthusiasts, Ocean Gold in collaboration with The Yachting Association of India (YAI) has announced the inaugural YAI-Ocean Gold Konkan Offshore Sailing Regatta. Scheduled from December 8 to 12, 2025, the regatta covers a 222-nautical-mile course from Mumbai's iconic Gateway of India to the vibrant shores of Goa, with a key stop at the historic Vijaydurg Fort, highlighting both the thrilling endurance challenge and the picturesque beauty of the Konkan coastline.
Showcasing India's premier sailing talent, the event will feature eight keelboats and two Seabird boats including esteemed sailors such as Cdr. Dilip Donde (Retd.), India's first solo circumnavigator, alongside LtCdr. Dilna Devadas and LtCdr. Roopa Alagirisamy of the Indian Navy. Focused on delivering top-tier safety and competitive racing standards, the regatta promises an exhilarating spectacle on the high seas. The proceedings commence on December 7 with a registration and skippers' briefing at the Royal Bombay Yacht Club. The Seabird class embarks on December 8 from the Gateway of India, followed by the keelboat fleet on December 9. A heritage stop at Vijaydurg Fort precedes the fleet's journey to Goa, where the Goa Yachting Rendezvous will include Seabird fleet racing and a keelboat day race around Grande Island, culminating in a prize ceremony on December 13 at Dona Paula.
Organiser and participant Mr. Nilay Patil expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "We want every sailor and supporter to feel the same sense of anticipation and connection that the sea inspires. Offshore sailing along the Konkan coast has offered me some of my most meaningful experiences." Ensuring maximum safety and accessibility are the Indian Navy, the Indian Coast Guard, and state tourism departments. A comprehensive media program will bring the regatta's action and excitement into the homes of audiences across the country, promising a captivating glimpse into the intricacies of offshore sailing in India. The YAI-Ocean Gold Offshore Regatta aspires to cement its place as a hallmark event in India's sailing calendar, combining competition with exploration along the stunning coastline.
