The government has launched an investigation into Indigo Airlines following widespread flight cancellations, Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu informed the Rajya Sabha on Monday. The probe aims to address the internal mismanagement issues that led to the disruption, setting a precedent for other airlines.
In response to Congress MP Pramod Tiwari's concerns, Naidu clarified that the cancellations were not caused by the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS) but were due to Indigo's failure to manage crew rosters. The mishandling occurred despite the government's new Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) guidelines.
Minister Naidu emphasized ongoing discussions with all airlines to ensure adherence to FDTL guidelines, implemented after a high court order. Although exemptions were allowed after risk assessments, Naidu laid the blame on Indigo for not maintaining day-to-day operations and failing to raise red flags when issues arose.
