Dassault's Nagpur unit ready to ship cockpit for Falcon 2000

The first cockpit front section of Falcon 2000 series produced by Dassault Reliance Aerospace here is ready to be handed over to Dassault Aviation, said a senior company official Thursday. Dassault has a joint venture with Anil Ambani group's Reliance called Dassault Reliance Aerospace and has a plant at the Mihan here and the cokcpit was built at this plant.

The company chief executive Sampathkumaran ST said the first front section of the cockpit will be delivered to Dassault Aviation's Falcon final assembly line in France. It will be despatched Friday. The cockpit assembly of Falcon 2000 has already started here, Sampathkumaran said, adding the company is aiming to manufacture the complete Falcon 2000 aircraft from the Nagpur facility by 2022.

Dassault Aviation's senior executive vice-president for international business Benoit Dussaugey said this is a new step in their business in the country. "The Nagpur plant demonstrates our determination to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility with cutting edge technologies as well as best-in-class international aeronautical standards in terms of efficiency in production and competitiveness," he said.

Dussaugey further said the creation of Dassault Reliance Aerospace in February 2017 illustrates his company's determination to build an aerospace manufacturing eco-system in the country that matches the highest standards in this field and positioning India as an international reference in the global aerospace market. He also the joint venture plans to recruit 650 employees by 2022.

When asked about production of Rafale fighter jets from the Nagpur facility, Dassaugey said the 36 Rafale aircrafts are to be given in fly-away condition, hence it will be manufactured here. Eric Trappier, Dassault Aviation global chairman and chief executive in a statement said this cockpit built in the Napur facility illustrates the ambitions they have for India.

"We are totally committed to produce in India, to develop a self-reliant aerospace industrial ecosystem and to demonstrate competitiveness, quality and safety highest standards," Trappier said..
