BEML Unveils Futuristic Driverless Metro Trains for Bangalore
BEML has introduced the prototype of its driverless metro trainsets for the Bangalore Metro project. BEML, on Thursday, introduced the prototype of its advanced driverless metro trainsets, specifically designed for Bangalore's expanding metro corridors. These trainsets will be integral to Namma Metro's Phases 2, 2A, and 2B, including the highly awaited Airport Line.
During the unveiling at BEML Rail Complex, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited's Managing Director, J Ravishankar, along with BEML Chairman Shantanu Roy, oversaw a demonstration of the train. The contract stipulates BEML's delivery of 318 metro cars, manufactured at its Bengaluru facility, for both the Blue and Pink Lines.
This rollout is a pivotal achievement under a Rs 3,177-crore deal, cementing BEML's pivotal role in India's metro sector, especially in driverless transit technology. Comprising energy-efficient and fully automated features, the trainsets are designed to deliver an enhanced commuting experience, aligning with international safety standards and the latest in urban transport technology.
