In a bid to address the mounting issue of unpaid traffic violation fines, the International Road Federation (IRF) has called on Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to implement stricter recovery mechanisms.

IRF President Emeritus KK Kapila emphasized the need for measures such as driving license suspension and withholding of pollution and insurance certificates to ensure prompt payment.

With significant challenges in cities like Delhi, where pending unpaid challans have reached about five crore, Kapila insists that although current measures are effective, additional actions are vital for improved compliance.
