India's startup ecosystem is witnessing unprecedented growth, expanding from a few hundred startups a decade ago to over 200,000 today. This surge is generating substantial employment opportunities and providing viable alternatives to traditional salaried jobs, Minister Jitendra Singh stated at the Atal Innovation Incubator Conclave "AIM SUMVAAD".

The Union Budget 2026–27 has given significant impetus to the country's entrepreneurial landscape, focusing on incubation, innovation, and women's economic participation. Introducing supportive frameworks for startups, biomanufacturing, and self-help entrepreneurship among women reflects a progressive approach towards inclusive growth.

NITI Aayog's Atal Innovation Mission has played a pivotal role, with nearly 50,000 Atal Tinkering Labs operational nationwide, fostering innovation in schools and communities. Suman Bery and B V R Subrahmanyam highlighted AIM's transformative impact, while Ajay Kumar Sood underscored the importance of deep-tech startups and incubators as vital national infrastructure.
