Union Minister Suresh Gopi has announced a permanent increase in the capacity of three MEMU trains in Kerala, starting February 23. This enhancement is set to benefit the daily commuters who rely on these services.
The announcement came during the inauguration of a newly constructed Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP) facility at Kollam Junction railway station. This facility is a part of the ongoing Major Station Redevelopment works aimed at improving passenger amenities and modernizing infrastructure.
Built at a cost of Rs 29 crore, the MLCP is designed to streamline vehicular movement, reduce congestion, and provide organized parking spaces for travelers. Gopi emphasized that the increased train capacity and station improvements reflect the central government's commitment to boosting last-mile connectivity and easing commuter experiences.
