A tractor carrying bricks collided with a freight train on the Lucknow-Varanasi railway track, leaving the tractor severely damaged and causing significant harm to the train's engine. The incident transpired near Sherpur Parashurampur village within Chanda police station's jurisdiction, leading to over an hour's disruption in train operations.
Officials reported that the crash site lacked a level crossing, and quick thinking by the freight train driver, who slowed down upon spotting the tractor, averted a larger disaster. Despite the deceleration, the collision's impact destroyed the tractor-trolley and damaged the train's front left portion.
The train remained stationary for more than an hour until authorities cleared the track. Sub-Inspector Avadhesh Singh stated that the tractor-trolley was on a brick delivery run from Koeripur to Sherpur Parashurampur. Further details regarding the tractor driver or owner were not immediately available, but investigations are ongoing.
