A helicopter bound for Kaushambi, with Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on board, had to make an emergency landing shortly after departing from Lucknow. Officials revealed that a technical malfunction led to smoke filling the cabin, necessitating a prompt return to the Lucknow airport.
The aircraft, which included five individuals—Maurya, his aide Vivek, and two pilots—departed from the La Martiniere College ground helipad before the issue arose. Witnesses reported seeing smoke inside the helicopter cabin almost immediately, prompting the pilots to prioritize safety and land at the nearest airport facility.
Though the incident caused a temporary setback, party leaders confirmed Maurya is unharmed and will travel to Kaushambi later on a different helicopter. A team of experts is currently investigating to determine the cause of the smoke and prevent future occurrences.
