AC Delco, the aftermarket arm of General Motors, has inked a licensing deal with Assurance International to introduce lubricant and battery products in the Indian market. The agreement, unveiled on Monday, aims at strengthening AC Delco's foothold in the burgeoning Indian automotive aftermarket, offering significant growth opportunities.
Pratik Sharma, Business Head of General Motors India, emphasized that the agreement encompasses only aftermarket products, with an initial focus on batteries and lubricants. He clarified that this partnership is not indicative of a potential re-entry for GM into the Indian passenger vehicle market, from which it withdrew in 2017.
Nilesh Garg, Chief Business and Growth Officer at Assurance International, noted that although the licensing agreement currently applies solely to India, there are plans to extend this reach to adjoining countries. Assurance International will leverage AC Delco's technological expertise to manufacture and market certified products.
