Maharashtra's Green Road: MSRTC's Electrifying Transformation by 2037

Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) aims to transition its entire bus fleet to electric vehicles by 2037, as announced by Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik. This move aligns with Maharashtra's vision for an all-electric vehicle future by 2047, offering toll waivers and financial incentives to encourage EV adoption.

Maharashtra's State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is set to transition its entire fleet of buses to electric vehicles (EVs) by 2037, as confirmed by Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik.

This ambitious plan is part of a broader vision to ensure all vehicles in Maharashtra are electric by 2047. Currently, MSRTC operates 22,000 buses, including 800 that are already electric. The transition will occur gradually, making MSRTC the first transport corporation in the state to fully electrify its fleet.

In accordance with the Maharashtra Electric Vehicle Policy 2025, EVs enjoy 100% toll waivers on major expressways. The state also offers financial incentives and plans to develop charging infrastructure every 25 km along highways.
