Green Light for Seamless Connectivity: Barabanki to Bahraich Highway Project

The Indian Union Cabinet, in a significant decision, has sanctioned the construction of a 4-lane access-controlled National Highway-927, stretching from Barabanki to Bahraich in Uttar Pradesh. The project, valued at Rs 6,969.04 crore, is designed to revolutionize connectivity across the state, seamlessly linking key economic, social, and logistics hubs.
According to the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, the highway advancement, utilizing the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM), involves a civil cost of approximately Rs 3,485.49 crore, with an additional Rs 1,574.85 crore allocated for land acquisition. This project is anticipated to create direct and indirect employment opportunities equating to 36.54 lakh and 43.04 lakh person-days respectively.
Aiming to rectify existing infrastructural deficiencies, the new highway promises to bypass major habitations, thus boosting safety, travel speed, and fuel efficiency. Besides supporting regional socio-economic development, it will enhance cross-border trade with Nepal and access to remote districts, reinforcing multi-modal integration and facilitating agri-trade and tourism.
