Layoff Turmoil: MP Raises Alarm Over Oracle's Mass Redundancies in India

CPI(ML) Liberation MP Raja Ram Singh has called upon the Labour and Employment Minister to address Oracle Corporation's mass layoffs in India, which have impacted 12,000 employees. Singh criticized the company's actions and urged the government to protect workers' rights and hold corporations accountable.

In a stern letter to the Labour and Employment Minister, CPI(ML) Liberation MP Raja Ram Singh expressed his alarm regarding mass layoffs executed by Oracle Corporation in India, urging prompt government intervention.

Singh highlighted the layoffs' implications on corporate accountability and the government's duty to safeguard worker rights, citing Oracle's move to dismiss 12,000 employees as a breach of corporate social responsibility in exchange for government benefits such as tax exemptions and infrastructure support.

The MP's letter criticized the lack of notice given to employees and the absence of firm labour protections, demanding the government seek clarification from Oracle and strengthen laws preventing unjust terminations, stressing that the dignity and job security of Indian workers must not be compromised.
