LPG demand is anticipated to decline this summer, as confirmed by Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary (Marketing & Oil Refinery) at the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, during a briefing about West Asia's latest events. Bookings have fallen to between 46 lakh and 50 lakh, indicating a seasonal dip, she noted.

Despite this decline, the government has ensured that domestic supply remains stable. Sharma emphasized that there are no reports of LPG shortages at distribution points and deliveries continue as expected. The domestic LPG output is reportedly stable, fluctuating between 46,000 and 50,000 MMT, which ensures demand is met.

General fuel availability is adequate nationwide. Petrol and diesel supplies, as well as refinery operations, are stable, supported by sufficient crude oil stocks. In the auto LPG sector, sales have dropped from 296 tons per day in April to 177 tons per day in February. Some states, such as Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, are experiencing increased sales.

To reduce pressure on LPG, the government is expanding the Piped Natural Gas network and urging states to expedite approval processes. Consumers are reassured of ample supply and advised against panic buying amid volatile geopolitical conditions in West Asia. The government continues to monitor these developments closely.
