Private Bus Operators Demand Fair Advance Payments for Election Duty

The Joint Council of Bus Syndicates in West Bengal has accused the State Election Commission of unfairness in distributing advance payments to private bus owners for election duty. Many operators face financial difficulties due to delayed payments, highlighting discrepancies between different districts' treatment.

In West Bengal, the Joint Council of Bus Syndicates has raised concerns about discrimination in disbursement of advance payments for private buses deployed for election duty.

Secretary Tapan Banerjee highlighted that while certain districts have begun receiving payments, others, such as Kolkata and Nadia, remain unpaid, exacerbating financial pressure on bus owners.

Banerjee urged the Election Commission to address the disparity, as operators need the funds to manage wages and liabilities, with over 90% of buses requisitioned for the election.
