The Uttar Pradesh government is set to transform the Ganga Expressway into an 'expressway-cum-industrial corridor,' an official statement revealed on Sunday. With Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to inaugurate the corridor on April 29, the initiative marks a significant move to blend infrastructure and industrial development.
As per the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority's plans, 12 industrial nodes spanning 594 kilometers—from Meerut to Prayagraj—are in the pipeline, covering over 6,507 acres of land. So far, the initiative has piqued investor interest, with 987 proposals aiming for nearly Rs 47,000 crore in investments.
The corridor is expected to drive economic development by creating manufacturing and logistics hubs, thereby reducing regional disparities and boosting local employment across 12 districts. Districts like Hardoi, Unnao, Raebareli, and Pratapgarh stand to benefit significantly from the projected industrial expansion, enhancing local economic activities.
