Three members of a family were killed and as many others injured after their car hit a road divider and then rammed into a truck in Chhattisgarh's Janjgir-Champa district early on Tuesday, police said. The accident occurred near a toll plaza on the Champa-Faraswani road around 2 am when the victims were returning from a wedding reception, a police official here said. Preliminary information suggests that the family members, residents of the Niharika area in neighbouring Korba district, had travelled to Champa to attend the function and were on their way back when the incident occurred, he said. Their car first struck the divider, and then crashed into a parked truck, the official said. Three car occupants, identified as Mongra Soni (45), Devendra Soni (22) and a two-and-a-half-year-old child, Priyansh, died on the spot, he said. The three injured persons were rushed to a hospital in Champa for treatment. One of them is stated to be in critical condition, while the other two are stable, the official said. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and further investigation into the incident is underway, he added.
