Arvind Singh, a travel agent who traveled on the inaugural journey, described the new train as a 'game changer,' highlighting its potential to boost trade and tourism. Previously, tourists and pilgrims relied on unreliable road transport, often plagued by landslides and weather disruptions.
The extension of the Vande Bharat Express to Jammu marks a key milestone in the Government of India's Rs 43,780-crore railway project, connecting Kashmir with the rest of the country. Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw officially inaugurated the 20-coach train, reinforcing its significance for regional development.
