A crucial Bailey bridge over the Tuivai river in Manipur's Churachandpur district collapsed on Thursday evening, according to officials. The incident occurred as two trucks loaded with cement were crossing the span, located between Sinzawl and Khuanggin villages along National Highway 102B. Thankfully, no casualties have been reported.

The bridge serves as an essential supply route, linking Churachandpur to Silchar in Assam and other areas via Mizoram, facilitating the movement of vital commodities. The collapse poses a significant disruption to the transportation of goods in the region.

Restoration efforts are in full swing, with officials stating that work is proceeding on a war footing to swiftly resume connectivity and re-establish the crucial supply line.
