The Goa government has made a significant announcement aimed at long-serving private sector employees, declaring a one-time incentive of Rs 15,000. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant unveiled this plan during a Labour Day event, marking a shift in focus towards bolstering private sector employment.
In a ceremony that saw the presence of Labour Minister Atanasio Monserratte, the chief minister honored a select group of employees who have dedicated over two decades to private sector roles. Applicants, either businesses or individuals, must present proof of their service record to the Labour Welfare Department to claim this benefit, Sawant elaborated.
The initiative underscores the chief minister’s plea for job seekers to prioritize private sector opportunities, which he asserts offer competitive salaries compared to government jobs. He acknowledged the pivotal contributions of laborers in infrastructure development while urging private firms to register employees with the state for access to the Labour Welfare Fund, aimed at benefiting approximately 1.4 lakh registered laborers.
