Unity in Diversity: Celebrating Gujarat and Maharashtra's Statehood Day

Gujarat and Maharashtra's statehood day was observed at Lok Bhavan, underscoring national unity and integration. Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya emphasized the importance of the occasion in unifying India under the 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' initiative.

He recalled that both states were established on May 1, 1960, following a linguistic reorganization, marking a significant point in India's democratic journey. Gujarat's cultural heritage and achievements in commerce, alongside leadership from Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel, were acknowledged.

Maharashtra's cultural and economic influence, with Mumbai as a financial center and historical figures like Shivaji Maharaj and Tilak, was also celebrated. The event highlighted mutual contributions between Assam and these states, advocating for India's progress through unity and federal cooperation.
