China's railway network achieved a significant milestone on May 1 by transporting 24.8 million passengers in a single day, as per data from the China State Railway Group.

This achievement marks a new record and demonstrates the strength of the country's transportation infrastructure. An estimated 19.7 million passengers are also expected on May 2, reflecting continued high demand.

To accommodate the holiday travel surge, lines such as Zhengzhou and Chengdu added additional trains, with 140 and 184 extra passenger trains, respectively. This increased activity highlights China's tourism sector's contribution to bolstering the national economy, which faces challenges from sluggish consumption and a protracted property downturn.
