In a proactive response to the disruptions caused by the ongoing West Asia crisis, the Indian government pledged unwavering efforts to maintain a steady supply of LPG, crude oil, and natural gas. Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, assured the public that despite affected imports, domestic consumers continue to receive consistent supplies.

The government has ensured that 70 percent of commercial fuel supply is intact, aiming to stabilize fuel availability nationwide. LPG distributors report normal operations, with nearly 100 percent fulfillment against booking demands amid geopolitical supply concerns.

Sujata Sharma highlighted the substantial reach of supply efforts, noting that 87,28,000 LPG cylinders were delivered lately. The fuel distribution system is fortified by delivery authentication, ensuring widespread accessibility and safety. Local consumption records impressive sales, and strategic awareness campaigns from PSU OMCs include the sale of substantial quantities of 5 kg cylinders through nationwide outreach programs.

Regarding retail fuel outlets, Sharma informed of current typical operations, urging against panic buying while assuring ample efforts for supply continuity by PSUs. Crude oil refineries maintain regular operations with stable inventories. Precautionary measures are also evident through staggered maintenance schedules of refineries to minimize disruptions to domestic markets.

Enforcement actions are on the rise to handle distribution irregularities, with 2,100 raids conducted and numerous distributors facing penalties for non-compliance. The ministry continues to adapt strategies, focusing on uninterrupted operation and regulatory compliance to sustain fuel supply.
