A devastating head-on collision between a truck and a car on the narrow Pachgaon-Jamalpur road in Bilaspur area claimed three lives, authorities reported Thursday. Among the deceased were a land records official, a retired armyman, and a farmer, who were returning home when their vehicle was struck late Wednesday.

The driver responsible for the collision abandoned his truck and left the scene, prompting police to lodge an FIR and begin a manhunt for the fugitive. Investigators revealed that the truck was registered in Daman and Diu and had been delivering cargo to Bilaspur at the time of the accident.

Police identified the victims as Kuldeep, a 40-year-old patwari, Naval Singh, 68, a retired armyman, and Samay Singh, 70, a farmer. Rescuers found the accident victims trapped in their vehicle, all declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. A post-mortem is scheduled as police continue to search for the truck driver.
