Air India Tightens Belt: Temporary Suspension on Key International Routes
Air India has announced a reduction of international flights and a temporary suspension of services on six routes, including Delhi-Chicago, due to airspace restrictions and high jet fuel prices. The changes will be effective from June to August, affecting the airline's commercial operations.
Air India, on Wednesday, announced a cutback on international flights and a temporary suspension of services on six major routes, such as Delhi-Chicago, amid stringent airspace restrictions and soaring jet fuel prices.
The struggling airline, which has already curtailed flights on specific routes, said this latest service rationalization will be active from June to August. Critical factors, like ongoing airspace curbs over certain areas and unprecedented high jet fuel costs, are severely affecting the commercial feasibility of planned services, as per an official statement from Air India.
The financially beleaguered airline will halt services on routes including Delhi-Chicago, Mumbai-New York, and Delhi-Shanghai, among others, until August. Despite this, Air India commits to operating more than 1,200 international flights monthly across continents, maintaining connectivity with North America, Europe, the UK, Australia, the Far East, Southeast Asia, and the SAARC regions.
