Bihar's Green Transition: New EV Policy and AI Mission Boost State's Future

The Bihar government has revised its electric vehicle policy, with the objective of ensuring that 30% of all new vehicles sold by 2030 are electric. This decision, approved at a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality.

The policy introduces incentives under the 'Chief Minister Bihar Environment-Friendly Transport Employment Scheme' to foster the adoption of electric vehicles in commercial and non-commercial sectors. It includes financial aid for establishing EV charging stations and benefits for women's mobility.

Additionally, the government launched the Bihar Artificial Intelligence Mission, partnering with Global Finance and Technology Network to enhance the state's AI ecosystem and train students through a new certification program. The cabinet also approved increased allowances for employees and established infrastructure plans valued at Rs 72,901 crore.
