The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), famed for its Amul brand, has announced yet another price hike for its milk products. Starting May 14, consumers will see a Rs 2 increase per litre, a change that aligns with the rising costs impacting the dairy industry.

GCMMF's recent statement outlines that the increase affects fresh pouch milk across various major selling categories throughout India. This translates to an approximate rise of 2.5-3.5 percent per litre. The cooperative attributed this decision to the escalating cost of milk production, which has surpassed average food inflation rates.

Notably, the rising costs of cattle feed, milk packaging film, and fuel have heavily influenced this move. Additionally, cooperative members have raised the price of milk procurement from farmers by Rs 30 per kilogram of fat, marking a 3.7 percent increase over the rates from May 2025.
