Chinese airlines are scheduled to implement an increase in fuel surcharges for domestic flights starting May 16, according to notices from multiple carriers such as Air China and China Southern Airlines.
The surcharge for flights covering up to 800 km (500 miles) will rise by 30 yuan ($4.42), reaching a new total of 90 yuan, the notices indicated. For longer domestic journeys, the surcharge will be elevated by 50 yuan to a total of 170 yuan.
Additionally, regional airlines like Kunming Airlines and Xiamen Airlines have also announced corresponding adjustments to their fuel surcharge policies, aligning with the broader industry trend in China.
