Violence in Manipur: Churches and Congress Unite in Condemnation

Churches in Mizoram and the state Congress condemned the killing of three church leaders in Manipur's Kangpokpi district. Churches across Mizoram, along with the state Congress unit, have vehemently denounced the killing of three church leaders in an ambush that transpired in Manipur's Kangpokpi district. The incident, which occurred on May 13, was described as a heinous act that leaves a significant void in the Christian community.

In an official statement, the Council of Churches in Mizoram (CCM), representing nine major churches, articulated their deep sorrow over the ambush that saw religious leaders attacked between Kotzim and Kotlen villages. Emphasizing the shared grief with affected families, the CCM called for prayers and peace restoration in the region.

The Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) also expressed condolences, highlighting the loss of three Thadou Baptist Association of India (TBAI) leaders, renowned for their peace efforts amidst ongoing unrest. The Chief Minister condemned the violence, which led to a shut-down in the predominantly Kuki district.
