Global Powers Unite for Open Strait of Hormuz
US President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed on the importance of opening the Strait of Hormuz to support global energy demands. They also discussed not imposing tolls on vessels, China's increased oil purchases from the US, and cooperation on reducing fentanyl precursor chemical flow.
In a pivotal meeting, US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping reached a consensus on reopening the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing its critical role in satisfying global energy requirements.
Despite tensions, Xi firmly opposed the idea of imposing tolls on ships passing through the strategic waterway, which has been effectively closed amid the ongoing US-Israel conflict with Iran.
Further discussions involved China's potential increase in US oil imports to lessen its reliance on Gulf oil, and commitments to curb the smuggling of fentanyl precursors into the United States.
