The Locarno Film Festival is set to pay tribute to the illustrious actor and filmmaker Isabella Rossellini with the Excellence Award on the festival's opening night, August 5. The accolade is a testament to Rossellini's enduring legacy in contemporary cinema, television, and fashion.
Now 73, Rossellini's career boasts collaborations with some of the most iconic names in film, most notably director David Lynch in 'Blue Velvet'. Her illustrious lineage as the daughter of Roberto Rossellini and Ingrid Bergman has also added to her remarkable legacy.
Beyond acting, Rossellini holds a master's degree in Animal Behavior and Conservation, and she has directed short films like 'Green Porno', which creatively explore animal behavior. The festival’s artistic director, Giona A. Nazzaro, commended her for her fearless creativity, profound presence, and indelible mark on cinema.
