Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is poised to open a cutting-edge ammunition manufacturing unit in Shirdi, Maharashtra, on May 23. This marks a significant development for India's defense capabilities as the new facility is set to manufacture artillery bombshells and support the broader aerospace sector.
The factory, strategically located in Ahilyanagar district, spans 200 acres and is projected to generate employment for approximately 2,000 individuals, directly and indirectly. It will provide substantial support to the Medium Small and Micro Enterprises (MSMEs), thereby boosting economic activities in the region.
Notably, the facility is expected to contribute to India's defense exports. The inauguration, which will see the attendance of other notable figures like Chief of Defence Staff Gen Anil Chauhan and Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, underlines the government's vision to elevate Shirdi as a pivotal defense hub.
