In a move toward sustainable urban transport, Delhi unveiled a hydrogen-powered shuttle bus service in the Central Vista area. Initiated by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, this service signals India's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.
The service, which operates during peak office hours from Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays, was launched following an appeal from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for citizens to adopt more sustainable practices. Aimed at key government offices and landmarks, the hydrogen buses offer an eco-friendly alternative to traditional fuel-driven vehicles.
The buses will run every 30 minutes in both clockwise and anti-clockwise directions, with payments accepted via National Common Mobility Card, UPI, or cash. By promoting green hydrogen as a viable clean fuel, this initiative not only addresses the current energy crisis but also encourages the adoption of green transportation solutions.
