A fire broke out on the Thiruvananthapuram-New Delhi Rajdhani Express train early Sunday morning in Madhya Pradesh's Ratlam district. The incident resulted in damages to two train coaches and disrupted rail traffic on the busy Mumbai-Delhi route for several hours, authorities confirmed.
No casualties were reported, with all 68 passengers from the affected B-1 coach evacuated promptly. However, in a separate mishap, a support van overturned en route to the scene, injuring five railway workers. Efforts to restore rail services were successful after more than seven hours of delays.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the fire's cause as officials managed repairs and coordinated rerouting of impacted train services. Rail traffic returned to normal after emergency repair work on overhead equipment.
