Tragedy Strikes: Young Man Drowns at Natural Waterfall in Jammu and Kashmir
A young man named Mohammad Maroof drowned while bathing in a natural waterfall in Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir. Despite efforts from his friends and a rapid rescue operation, Maroof's body was recovered a day later. Two others were rescued and hospitalized, suffering from hypothermia.

A young man met a tragic end after being swept away by strong currents while bathing in a natural waterfall in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district. Officials confirmed that the incident occurred near Khorinar village in the Darhal area, where two others narrowly escaped the rapids.
The victim, identified as Mohammad Maroof from Thanamang Darhal, had returned home on leave from Mumbai. He and his two friends, Mohammad Ismail and Mohammad Yasir, found themselves trapped in the forceful water currents. Although Ismail and Yasir initially tried to save Maroof, both succumbed to hypothermia but were fortunately rescued by nearby villagers.
A dedicated search and rescue operation ensued, involving the police, State Disaster Response Force, and CRPF personnel. Maroof's body was ultimately discovered beneath a rock, overcome by raging waters, and later transferred to a local civil hospital for legal processes.
