NTPC Limited announced a significant achievement on Monday as the NTPC Group's installed power generation capacity surpassed 90 gigawatts. This milestone was reached following the successful trial operation of an 800-megawatt unit at Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL), as per the company's exchange filing.

With this addition, the total installed capacity of NTPC Limited now stands at 90,668 megawatts. PVUNL, a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, is instrumental in this achievement, as the Patratu project consists of three units, each with an 800-megawatt capacity.

This development underscores India's rapid expansion in power generation, especially in renewable energy. Government data indicates a considerable increase in solar and wind energy capacities, contributing to a total installed capacity of 5,20,511 megawatts by January 2026, with over half from non-fossil fuel sources.
