A tragic collision on Virginia's Interstate 95 left five dead and 44 injured when a bus failed to slow for traffic stopped near a work zone early Friday morning, authorities reported.
The crash occurred at 2:35 am in Stafford County, where the bus struck six vehicles, tragically killing all five victims within those vehicles.
The state police revealed the victims include a family from Massachusetts and a woman from Worcester. Meanwhile, the National Transportation Safety Board has started a thorough investigation as federal transit authorities grapple with challenges regarding interstate passenger bus safety.
Jing S Dong, identified as the bus driver, remains hospitalized, with charges pending. Despite a satisfactory safety record, this incident underscores long-standing issues surrounding bus safety.
