Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd, based in Kolkata, has laid the keel of the fourth vessel in a project aimed at producing multi-purpose vessels for the German company Carsten Rehder Schiffsmakler and Reederei GmbH & Co. KG.
This initiative forms part of a landmark contract to construct and deliver 12 vessels, marking GRSE's largest commercial shipbuilding export order to date. The venture underlines GRSE's focus on broadening its commercial scope and solidifying its position in the global market.
The collaboration involves the design and construction of CORAL 7500 DWT multi-purpose vessels, jointly developed by GRSE and Carsten Rehder. Four vessels were initially contracted in 2024, with the order later expanding to 12.
Each vessel in this series is planned to measure 120 metres and will be capable of transporting up to 7,500 metric tonnes of cargo, a GRSE official highlighted.
