European Union and United States representatives have reiterated their commitment to fulfilling the obligations of their existing trade agreement as per U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer. Both parties expressed this resolve during an interview with France 24.

Greer asserted that there remains significant potential for both sides to advance in terms of compliance. His statements follow a controversial proposal from the Trump administration suggesting the imposition of up to 12.5% tariffs on imports from 60 economies.

This proposal arose from allegations that these economies had not sufficiently addressed the trade of goods manufactured with forced labor, a claim met with resistance from trading partners.
