Brett Matsumoto Addresses Job Market Data Revisions

Brett Matsumoto, an economist selected by President Donald Trump for the role of Bureau of Labor Statistics commissioner, clarified on Wednesday that he does not believe the agency's job market numbers were fabricated. Instead, he attributes notable revisions in the data to technical issues.

During his confirmation hearing before a Senate committee, Matsumoto expressed, "I believe there are technical reasons that could explain perhaps these larger revisions, but no, no, I did not believe that the data was fabricated."

The previous commissioner, Erika McEntarfer, was ousted by Trump last August after a monthly employment report revealed historically large revisions to job creation figures.
