Waitomo Group to open first Fuel Stop in Papamoa on March 11

Waitomo Group Managing Director Jimmy Ormsby says exponential commercial and population growth in the area over the last few years made Papamoa an attractive option for expansion.

Building on its fast-growing national network, Hamilton-based fuel supplier Waitomo Group is opening its first Fuel Stop in Papamoa today – its third expansion this year.

Located on Te Puke Highway, the unmanned 24-hour Fuel Stop will offer retail and commercial customers Unleaded 91, Premium 95 and Diesel. GoClear is also available to diesel vehicle users.

In celebration, Waitomo is pumping down prices at the new site with Unleaded 91 at $1.799 a litre, Premium 95 at $1.929 a litre and Diesel at $1.159 a litre from midday today for 48 hours (Wednesday 13 March, 12 pm).

Waitomo also operates a Fuel Stop in Mount Maunganui and has recently opened a site in Rotorua.

Further Waitomo Fuel Stops in Wellington, Upper Hutt and Christchurch will open later this year, delivering long-awaited price competition and choice to motorists paying some of the highest fuel prices in New Zealand.

After a blessing at 9 am, the Papamoa Fuel Stop will officially open at 12 pm, with ice creams and cold drinks to keep things cool.

As with all new Waitomo Fuel Stops, the pumps on site are fitted with vapour recovery technology, a system not widely used in New Zealand that sucks petrol vapour that would otherwise escape into the atmosphere back into the pump.

Established in Te Kuiti more than 70 years ago by Desmond Ormsby, Waitomo Group now has 60 sites stretching from Paihia to Foxton.
