The President of Botswana Mokgweetsi Masisi on Monday met with a Communist Party of China (CPC) delegation led by Bayinchaolu, member of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee.

In the meeting held in Botswana’s capital, Gaborone, capital of the African country, Mokgweetsi Masisi spoke highly of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and thanked China for supporting Botswana's economic and social development.

Masisi reiterated that Botswana would firmly adhere to the one-China policy, stressing it would support the Belt and Road construction, learn from China's experience in development and deepen overall bilateral cooperation under the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

Bayinchaolu introduced the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the CPC and the achievements made since the founding of the People's Republic of China 70 years ago.

Bayinchaolu said he appreciated Botswana's firm support to the one-China principle and spoke highly of the achievements made by Masisi's government and the importance it attached to the bilateral ties.

He expressed willingness to work with the Botswana side to implement the important consensuses reached by the two heads of state and the results of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, and jointly promote the construction of the Belt and Road, Xinhua reported.

Bayinchaolu also met with Slumber Tsogwane, Botswana's vice president and chairman of the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP), and held talks with BDP secretary general Mpho Balopi.
