David Malpass to visit Egypt to work on World Bank projects, country economy
This will be the first visit to Egypt for Mr Malpass since taking over as president of the World Bank Group in April of this year.

World Bank Group President David Malpass will arrive in Cairo Saturday, May 4 for a two-day working trip focused on World Bank projects and the Egyptian economy. This will be the first visit to Egypt for Mr Malpass since taking over as president of the World Bank Group in April of this year. During his two-day visit to Egypt, the World Bank Group president will meet with government officials and parliamentarians on the progress of the Egyptian reform program and how the World Bank can best contribute to maintaining its momentum
Mr Malpass will also travel to Aswan to visit the Benban Photovoltaic Solar Park, which will be the world's largest such facility once complete. The visit to Aswan will include meetings with beneficiaries of the Takaful and Karama social safety net program. The Takaful and Karama program, which now reaches over 2 million of the country's most vulnerable households, and the Benban Solar Park are direct results of the ongoing close collaboration between Egypt and the World Bank Group. The strong relationship supporting Egypt's growth and development is based on financing, technical assistance, and knowledge sharing.
