Belt and Road Initiative will assist the African countries to enhance trade with China, according to President of Zambia, Edgar Lungu.

Zambia Head of State, Edgar Lungu opined on June 5 that China has demonstrated its commitment to build infrastructure that will link and create synergies for trade across the world.

The Zambian leader was speaking in an interview with journalists after he toured exhibition stands at an enterprises expo featuring multiple economic sectors which is being held in Kitwe city on the Copperbelt Province under the theme: "Innovative Partnerships for Empowerment and Growth," as reported by Zambia.

Edgar Lungu said Zambia will continue to boost bilateral relations with China in various economic sectors that include infrastructure development that will be of benefit to the Zambian people.

According to Lungu, the African Union is in support of the Belt and Road Initiative, adding that Zambia as a member of the African Union has also taken a similar route.
