Rwanda signs MoU with Germany on job creation: Official

In order to foster economic growth and increase job opportunities, Rwanda has joined hand with Germany by signing an agreement on Thursday. Both the countries have agreed to work together in the areas of job creation, skills development and investment.
A Memorandum of Unit (MoU) was signed by Rwanda Development Board Chief Executive Clare Akamanzi and German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Dr. Gerd Müller. The agreement outlines the planned partnership with Rwanda Development Board under Germany’s new ‘Special Initiative on Training and Job Creation’ that has an objective to support the government in its efforts to implement its reform agenda set out in its National Strategy for Transformation (2017-2024), as reported by The New Times.
Rwanda’s National Strategy for Transformation intends at raising 1.5 million decent jobs by 2024. The figure is slightly more than 200,000 off-farm jobs per annum. The recently signed agreement is highly liked to foster economic development and create training and job opportunities, mainly for young people. The objective of the government of Rwanda is to drive the Rwandan economy towards middle-income status.
On the other hand, the government of Rwanda is looking forward to creating 235,525 extra jobs in the current fiscal year, according to the reports released by the Ministry of Public Service and Labor.
According to the above-mentioned source, some 197,495 job opportunities are likely to be created by the districts. Around 38,030 jobs will be created under the interventions of National Employment Programme by June 2020.
