Teachers Day 2018: PM Modi to distribute 45 National Award

On this evening, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet the teachers selected for the award.

On the occasion of Teachers Day, teachers will be conferred the National Award on Wednesday in Delhi. This year only 45 teachers will receive this award. It includes teachers from the state, central government schools, CBSE or CISCE. Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu will distribute these awards. On this evening, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet the teachers selected for the award.

During this, the exchange of views between teachers and PM will be done. However, this time the number of teachers who have been awarded the National Award this year is much less than last year. The government has made some changes to eligibility criteria and other rules for this year's awards. This time the process of applying for the award was adopted online. This gave teachers the chance to apply directly for the award with self-nomination.

According to the changed procedure, the names of 3 teachers from every district were kept in front of the committee of the Education Secretary of the state. Similarly, 152 names from all states and union territories reach the independent judicial committee. Earlier, more than 300 teachers were selected for this honor. At the same time, in 2014, PM Modi met the teachers who got respect for the last time.
